At Gray Academy, leadership is a core value we instill and nurture in our students. All students have opportunities to discover, develop and showcase their leadership strengths.

Student Council

Early in the school year, students elect their Student Council. The president, vice president, secretary and treasurer work together with faculty advisors and the principal to ensure the voice of their fellow students is heard when decisions are made.

Besides serving on the Student Council executive, students can make a difference at school by volunteering on committees, including:

  • social action;
  • fundraising;
  • social media;
  • athletic council;
  • environmental, and more.

Student Ambassadors

Gray Academy Student Ambassadors play an important role in representing our school to the community and to new and prospective students and parents. At the beginning of each school year, students in Grades 7-12 are welcome to apply.

Student Ambassador responsibilities include:

  • helping new students learn about the school and school programs
  • providing important feedback to teachers and staff

Student Ambassadors gain opportunities to:

  • build communication skills
  • earn volunteer hours
  • enhance their resume
  • help fellow students

Keshet: Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

With support from teachers and our guidance department, Gray Academy’s High School GSA helps ensure that our school is a welcoming environment where all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feel safe, supported and celebrated.

In group discussions, students can raise issues, ask questions, access support for themselves and also learn effective ways to be allies to their peers and community.

Grade 6 Patrols

Grade 6 patrols play an important role in keeping younger students safe every morning. Our volunteer patrols take on the responsibility of supervising outdoor play and helping younger students out of their cars, so traffic flows efficiently and safely in our drop-off loop.
