Not all memories happen in the classroom. At Gray Academy we believe that co-curricular opportunities help keep each of us, individually and collectively, part of our vibrant community.
Gray Academy students are encouraged to get involved with activities that allow them to discover, develop and showcase their strengths and follow their passions. For some students, this means taking on a leadership role that assumes responsibility while discovering reward in the experience.
Grade 6 Patrols
In Grade 6, students can become patrols and help keep traffic moving in the parking loop.
High school students can campaign for a place on the Executive Committee, or serve as the voice and unifying body of their peers on a variety of committees, including: social action, fundraising, social, environmental, and more.
Keshet: Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA)
Our GSA, which won the 2013 Sybil Shack Human Rights Youth Award, aims to create a welcoming environment where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feels safe. With support from teachers and our guidance department, this high school group meets once a cycle.
Reach for the Top
Our provincial champion Reach for the Top (RFTT) team is one of the best in Canada. RFTT is a trivia competition that see teams of four compete to see who has the greatest array of knowledge. There are two teams, intermediate (Grades 9 & 10) and Senior (Grades 11 & 12). Students meet a lunch once a cycle to practice answering questions and using the buzzer. Grade 7 & 8 students are also welcome to join the practices and possibly make it on the team. The Gray Academy team travels throughout the year to schools across Winnipeg and Kenora to compete.
