Message from Our WBJE President and Our Head of School
Each and every day, we take responsibility for the care and wellness of more than 570 students, faculty and staff who are the heartbeat of our school community. It’s a responsibility and a privilege we do not take lightly. We are passionate about fostering a warm and vibrant community that allows every child can grow and thrive – academically and Jewishly.
In 2015, the Winnipeg Board of Jewish Education (WBJE) launched a bold new five-year Strategic Plan. Its development was informed by significant input from our school community, including our students, parents, board members and staff.
Looking ahead, we have extended the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan. WBJE Focus to 2020 will guide our work over the next two years. The Plan provides a framework for decision making, goal setting, evaluation and ongoing evolution based on four key goals:
1. Strengthening Community Perception
Encouraging students, parents and community members to engage with the school, to recognize fully the far-reaching impact of a Gray Academy education on individuals and our community.
2. Attracting and Retaining Families
Gray Academy is an inclusive community and values the opportunity to educate children from JK through Grade 12. A comprehensive Admissions program that focuses on recruitment and retention ensures the continued growth of a vibrant and diverse school community.
3. Securing Sustainability and Community Support
Securing the financial stability of Gray Academy safeguards its longevity as a bedrock institution founded on over a century of community-supported Jewish education in Winnipeg.
4: An Enhanced Culture of Innovation
Advancing educational innovation on the strong foundation of Gray Academy’s mission and vision ensures that every student can excel in a rapidly changing global society.
Thank You for Your Support
The strength, success and sustainability of Gray Academy rests on the vital support of our community.
We thank the Government of Manitoba for supporting independent schools in our province.
We are grateful to the many generous donors who contribute to the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg’s Combined Jewish Appeal, which helps keep Jewish education accessible to all members of our community.
We commend our incredible team of educators and support staff for their dedication and commitment to our students and families.
We thank the many volunteers, including our Board and committees, who give their valuable time and energy to enrich our students’ experience.
Most important, we thank our families for entrusting their children’s academic and Jewish development to Gray Academy. We look forward to continuing this important journey together.
